Job Description

Job Summary: 


The Senior Proofreader position is responsible for reviewing legal documents for grammar and verbiage corrections.

 


Roles and Responsibilities:

(* denotes an “essential function”)

â–    *Identify and correct spelling, grammar, and verbiage errors in complex legal documents.

â–    *Detect formatting and compositional errors in documents.

â–    *Check corrected proofs of legal documents against mark-up for comparison and quality assurance.

â–    Assist the Document Services team with document production and preparation as needed.

â–    Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.

â–    Communicate with supervisor/manager and client on job or deadline issues.

â–    *Oversees proofreading assignments.

â–    *Troubleshoot more complex software or hardware problems

â–    Completes administrative tasks and assignments as assigned by management.

â–    Trains more junior staff members, as needed

â–    Perform Quality Assurance on work of others as requested

â–    Adhere to Williams Lea policy in addition to client site policies.

â–    Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications 

â–    Bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism preferred or equivalent work experience required.

â–    3+ years’ proofreading experience preferably in a legal, banking or large corporate environment

â–    Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint desired.

â–    Knowledge of a legal timekeeping or job tracking system is preferred.

â–    Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

â–    Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

â–    Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

â–    Must have good organizational skills

â–    Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information

â–    Able to make independent decisions that conform to business needs and policy

â–    Able to troubleshoot more complex or advanced tasks, equipment or software concerns on own; understands when to escalate a problem to a supervisory level

â–    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

â–    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

â–    Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing

â–    Must be self-motivated with a positive attitude

â–    Proven customer service skills are required in order to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
